Topmost three Indian AI stocks on retail investors' radar for software and infrastructure plays

Retail investors tracking India's AI build-out are focusing on three listed companies that span the country's hardware stack, automotive software layer and applied AI services sector, according to a Simply Wall St analysis published this week.

Netweb Technologies India, based in Faridabad, designs and builds high-end computing hardware and software, including supercomputers, AI servers, private cloud systems, high-performance storage and enterprise networking under its Tyrone brand. It also provides cloud migration, managed Kubernetes, AI and machine learning support, and consulting to government, defence and financial institutions, with recent results showing strong revenue and earnings helped by demand from those customers. The company reports high return on equity and in-house solutions positioned for premium pricing, but also faces risks including dependence on large government and defence orders and funding via external borrowing.

KPIT Technologies sits at a different point in the stack. The company builds the software that runs modern cars from autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance to vehicle operating systems, connectivity and diagnostics and focuses on embedded software, AI and digital solutions that help carmakers shift to software-defined and electric vehicles. It combines a long-running 21% EBITDA margin track record and net cash with pressure points including a recent earnings decline, margin compression and reliance on external borrowings.

Tata Elxsi rounds out the trio with a broader applied AI remit. The company provides product design, engineering and AI-powered software platforms across automotive, media, communications and healthcare, offering tools such as autonomous driving software, OTT and telco platforms, video analytics and digital health solutions to global clients. The company reports an ROE of 21.5% and a 2.04% dividend, yet revenue and earnings growth have recently trailed broader Indian market expectations and margins have eased.

The full AI Stocks screener surfaces 24 more companies with AI-driven narratives across chips, software, large language models, cloud and transformation. All three stocks highlighted carry both growth credentials and distinct risk profiles that analysts say warrant scrutiny beyond headline numbers.
