Marvell Technology has announced a $250 million investment in India to be deployed over the next three years, committing to expand its engineering workforce, physical infrastructure and technology capabilities in the country.
Central to the plan is a commitment to double its India headcount over the same period. The company is also opening a new wing at its Bengaluru development centre and expanding operations in Hyderabad, cities where engineering teams already work on some of the most technically demanding problems in the industry.
Those teams span Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, and have built expertise across advanced process technologies at 2nm and beyond, high-speed analog IP, subsystem design, firmware development and end-to-end silicon development. Marvell India's employees hold multiple patents, and the company says its India operations are increasingly applying AI tools to accelerate engineering productivity.
The investment is tied to rising demand for semiconductors that underpin AI workloads, cloud infrastructure and hyperscale data centres. The expanded India footprint is intended to support the design and development of next-generation networking, connectivity and data infrastructure solutions.
Marvell first set up its Bengaluru operations in 2006 and has since grown India into its second-largest R&D centre globally. The latest commitment marks 20 years of the company's presence in the country.
Beyond R&D, Marvell said it will continue working with universities, startups, industry associations and government bodies to build India's broader semiconductor ecosystem. A scholarship programme linked to this effort drew more than 7,000 applicants from universities across India, with 100 students selected to receive support, a signal that the company is also investing in the long-term talent pipeline rather than recruiting solely from the existing pool.
