Larsen & Toubro announced on 13 August 2026 that it has won a contract to deploy a 10,000-GPU NVIDIA B300 AI Factory at its Chennai data centre campus, in a deal that marks the engineering giant's formal entry into the AI infrastructure business.
The order is valued between ₹10,000 crore and ₹15,000 crore. Under L&T's own order classification, a mega contract sits in that range, though the company did not disclose the exact figure.
The project will be executed through L&T's AI infrastructure subsidiary, LTN Compute, and its digital infrastructure arm, Vyoma.AI. The contract was awarded by Together AI, a United States-based AI cloud platform.
The AI factory, sited at Vyoma's Chennai campus, will power an AI-native cloud platform for large-scale inferencing, fine-tuning and training workloads. The Chennai campus Phase 1 is designed for 250 MW with power infrastructure readiness of 150 MVA, providing a scalable foundation for future AI factory expansion.
Together AI has also signed a $240 million multi-year deal with IBM to build a large-scale AI cluster on IBM Cloud using NVIDIA systems.
Through LTN Compute, L&T is developing AI-ready data centres, sovereign cloud platforms and GPU-based services for governments, businesses, cloud companies and AI developers across India.
Earlier this week, L&T entered into an agreement to transfer its data centre and cloud services business to Vyoma.AI Ltd for ₹1,400 crore. The Chennai deal is the first major commercial proof point of that restructured entity.
The venture aims to build sovereign AI infrastructure that retains data, models and workloads within India while maintaining compatibility with global systems. This setup targets domestic enterprises and international clients, including hyperscalers and cloud providers seeking to expand their AI capacity in India.
