Indigo ground staffer says he quit after being told to touch supervisor's feet

A former IndiGo ground staffer at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport alleges a director ordered him to touch his supervisor's feet as punishment for a dress code lapse, prompting him to resign.

Mohammad Jamshid Y, who worked as ground staff for IndiGo at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport, shared the account in an Instagram video that has since drawn wide attention online.

According to Jamshid, the incident occurred during a routine inspection at Terminal 1, when a senior official noticed he was not wearing a tie. He says he immediately apologised and acknowledged the lapse. The official then reportedly summoned his supervisor and questioned her for allowing him to enter the terminal without complying with the dress code.

Jamshid alleges that, despite his repeated apologies, the director instructed him to touch his supervisor's feet as a gesture of contrition. He says he refused, calling the demand humiliating and inappropriate for a professional setting. He was then told to leave the terminal.

After discussing the matter with colleagues, Jamshid says he filed a formal complaint with IndiGo's Ethics and Compliance department. The airline investigated, but informed him it could not verify his presence at the terminal on the day in question based on available CCTV footage. Dissatisfied with that outcome, he decided to resign.

IndiGo has not publicly responded to the allegations, which remain unverified.
