Autodesk's AI Pulse Report 2026, released at the Autodesk Design & Make Summit India in Mumbai, places India at the front of enterprise AI adoption globally, with the country outpacing both regional and worldwide peers on investment, leadership commitment and operational readiness.
The survey, conducted with Statista Plus Research between January and February 2026 across 2,500 industry leaders spanning multiple countries, found that 91% of Indian organisations increased AI investment over the past year, ahead of the APAC average of 85% and the global average of 81%.
Adoption has moved beyond pilots. No surveyed Indian organisation reported operating without AI tools, and 63% now use AI assistants and chatbots, the highest rate recorded across APAC. Senior leadership is driving the push: 88% of respondents said their leaders actively encourage AI adoption, compared with 81% across APAC.
Workforce readiness is also a standout finding. Seven in ten Indian respondents said their organisation provides sufficient AI training, well above the APAC average of 57% and the global average of 59%.
Despite the momentum, organisations flagged persistent barriers. Regulatory uncertainty was cited by 50% of respondents, AI skills shortages by 49%, system integration challenges by 47%, and data quality concerns by 45%. The report notes that scaling AI responsibly will require continued investment in both people and governance.
The headline figures point to a market that has shifted from experimentation to integration, with AI now embedded into core business operations rather than confined to test environments.
