The Andhra Pradesh government has given the green light to AM AI Factory Pvt Ltd to build a 512-MW green integrated AI data centre in Visakhapatnam district, with an investment of over ₹31,387 crore.
The facility is to come up at Amanam village in Bheemunipatnam mandal and is expected to generate employment for up to 1,000 people, according to a Government Order issued by IT Secretary Bhaskar Katamneni.
The state has set a build timeline of two years and four months for the project. To support the investment, the government will provide power infrastructure and water supply under non-fiscal incentives, while fiscal incentives include exemptions from stamp duty and electricity duty.
The approval adds to a string of large AI infrastructure commitments that have been directed at Visakhapatnam in recent months. Google, Reliance Industries and others have already received state-level clearances for data centre projects in the same district, with the city being actively positioned as a hub for AI and digital infrastructure.
Andhra Pradesh has been targeting 6 GW of total data centre capacity, and the AM AI Factory project contributes a further 512 MW toward that goal. The coastal city's access to international subsea cables and the state's data centre-friendly policy framework including incentives extending to 2047, have been cited as factors drawing investment to the region.
For workers and jobseekers, the cluster of approvals points to a broadening pipeline of roles in data centre operations, power systems, construction and allied IT services in Visakhapatnam over the coming years.
