Q. Lazy. Entitled. Can't take feedback. Job-hops for "vibes." You've heard the labels. Which one makes you roll your eyes, which one low-key gets to you, and which one — hand on heart — are you willing to own just a little?
The label that bothers me the most is “lazy.” We are not lazy; we simply prioritize balance and meaningful work. However, I’ll admit that “job-hopping for vibes” can sometimes be true — but it often comes from a desire for growth, better culture, and fair opportunities.
Q. What does Gen Z look for in a job and workplace?
My generation is the first to openly say “this job isn’t worth my peace,” and we mean it. We look for respect, flexibility, learning opportunities, and a healthy work environment where we feel valued.
Q. You’re doing things differently — what are you building instead?
Instead of blindly “paying dues,” we are focused on building skills, personal growth, and meaningful careers. We prefer working smarter, not just longer, and choosing paths that align with our goals and values.
Q. What’s not being leveraged well about Gen Z? What should workplaces change?
Gen Z brings strong awareness of mental health, clear boundaries, adaptability, and digital fluency. However, many workplaces still don’t fully leverage these strengths. One change I would like to see is more empathetic leadership and open communication.
Q. One thing Gen Z does best at work
One thing my generation does exceptionally well is adapting quickly to change and technology. We learn fast, unlearn fast, and are not afraid to question outdated systems.
Q. Finish the sentence
We are not misunderstood. What is actually happening is that .."we are redefining success and prioritizing well-being alongside ambition."
