BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers travelled to two Hyderabad sites on Thursday to see India's workforce model up close. The delegation, led by Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje, visited the Bosch Global Software Technologies campus and the CII Green Business Centre as part of the 12th BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers' Meeting under India's BRICS Presidency.

The delegation was briefed on India's expanding GCC ecosystem, which now comprises more than 2,100 Global Capability Centres employing over 2.36 million professionals. Hyderabad alone hosts nearly 400 GCCs and has emerged as one of India's leading innovation hubs, strengthening the country's position as a preferred global destination for technology, engineering and digital transformation.

Discussions covered industry-academia collaboration, women's leadership, the use of AI to transform workplaces and efforts to build an inclusive and future-ready workforce.

At the CII Green Business Centre, the BRICS Ministers were briefed on India's initiatives to promote green buildings, resource efficiency, ESG practices and sustainable industrial development. The Centre of Excellence has played a key role in helping Indian industry adopt environmentally responsible business practices while improving competitiveness and resilience.

For working professionals in India, the meeting signals where hiring and skilling investment is headed. India has created around 170 million employment opportunities over the past decade, and the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana aims to generate 35 million formal sector jobs over the next two years through employment-linked incentive programmes.

Bilateral discussions also focused on expanding digital labour services, improving workforce mobility and advancing collaboration through the newly launched BRICS Connect platform.

A key outcome of the meeting was the adoption of the BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers' Declaration, which outlines four priority areas for future cooperation. Delegates concluded with a commitment to continue cooperation on labour and employment policies that support innovation, sustainability, decent work and inclusive economic growth across BRICS member countries.
